I wish the year could have ended on November 4th. Then we really would have ended with a bang. But I’ll count my blessings and hope that things will be better: for the poor trying to stay of the streets, for the working class struggling to pay off bill and keep their homes, for the elderly ad the infirm, who rely on an inadequate health care system and the kindness, patience and goodwill of others to survive, for the soldiers sruck around the world at lonely outposts, for those who have struggled for various reasons to just make it through another day. I am hoping and praying for all of them, and for you.
Happy belated Chanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, and have a great New Year’s. May the year 2009 be much, much better than it looks to be, and may you spend your precious, finite time on this earth wisely and in service to the greater good.
L’chaim! Peace on earth. My toast is to you.
