About the Christian Leftist
I’m a non-denominational Christian, born-again but not inclined to associate myself with 99 percent of the rest of the people who say the same thing. I became a Christian at approximately 10:15 pm, October 18th, 1998. Before that, I was alternately an Atheist and a Pagan. I used to go to church almost every day until I moved to a different state. Politics have turned me off from joining any congregation since then. I don’t believe that you have to go to church to love God, and I don’t think attending every Sunday is going to win you Brownie points if it doesn’t mean anything to you, either. I think it’s more important to apply the teachings of Christ–you know, the parts where he forgives the humble, helps the poor, feeds the hungry and tells everyone to love each other–than it is to bring down some Old Testamet wrath on your neighbor who, admit it, you never eally cared for anyway. Let’s leave that to the history pages on Salem, shall we?
I’m in my twenties, I live in a ‘battleground state’ whatever the hell that means, and I was detained at Pier 57 during the 2004 RNC in New York City while protesting the war and the Bush administration. I’m damned proud of it.
It would be great to post my picture here and reveal my real name, but that would be telling. Also, the fascists would probably report me to the Secret Service.
…Besides, it’s not like I hide my opinions when someone says something asinine in public, like putting a ‘Support Our Troops’ sticker on his/her Hummer or asserting that global warming doesn’t exist.
