If anyone reads this blog, you’ve probably noticed the recent paucity of posts despite the multiple huge news stories going on in the U.S.A. It’s because I couldn’t access the darn blog for a while there. Sigh.
I use Dreamhost for shared hosting because I can’t afford VPS or a dedicated server, and when I tried to upgrade, my login page sent me on an infinite loop, not letting me log out or log in. I had to reinstall wordpress completely and then add back in all of my themes and plugins. Luckily, I had backed up all of my posts just in case. Yeay for backup plugnis!
So, I have a lot to say, and I’ll probably put in a couple of backdated posts.
I’m pretty busy volunteering for the Obama campaign, but I’m lucky that I don’t live in a rural area. More on that later.
Not only is this unnecessary and selfish (supposedly, she allows this so that local hunters can have more caribou to hunt and eat), it’s a cruel, vile, disgusting form of butchery. It’s not about ending a wolf’s life peacefully. Usually, the wolf receives only crippling and painful non-fatal wounds and writhes on the ground before a final round of shots finishes it off. The helicopters don’t provide good vantage points for shooting moving targets, so they run the wolves down until they’re too exhausted to keep going, then the hunter shoots them.
Yesterday, GOP smear tactics were hard at work, using Obama’s comments about McCain’s policies and twisting them to say that they insulted Gov. Sarah Palin because she wears lipstick and described herself as a pit bull with lipstick last week.
Huh?
Yeah, that how I felt. Apparently, that’s how Obama felt, too.
Just in case you’re wondering how often politicians use this term for dressing up bad ideas in pretty packages — you know, the generally understood meaning of the expression — here’s a video of McCain using the phrase:
He refers to Hillary’s health care plan as sounding like “eerily reminiscent of what they tried back in 1993.” That means this video was taken in the 2007-2008 election season.
Hypocrisy, much?
Oh, and look! Here’s another one from MAY 2ND, 2008:
Even Mike Huckabee doesn’t think Obama was mocking Palin:
The GOP managed to eat a good 36 hours of election coverage that could have been better spent talking about the issues. Surprise, surprise. But at least most people still think Faux News is full of crap.
